Key Responsibilities
As a Junior Mine Geologist, your core duties will encompass:
* Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Leadership:
* Demonstrate exemplary personal HSE performance and actively contribute to upholding high HSE standards across the workplace and projects.
* Participate consistently in monthly safety meetings as required.
* Ensure strict adherence to all company and departmental safety procedures during task execution, particularly concerning isolation & tag-out protocols, safe work permits, hot work permits, and Job Safety and Environmental Analysis (JSEA).
* Oversee and ensure that accident and incident investigations are conducted with the highest standards of thoroughness.
* Confirm that all necessary safety training has been completed by relevant personnel, while also identifying and addressing any additional safety training needs.
* Geological Operations & Quality Control:
* Supervise grade control and blast hole drilling programs.
* Monitor the quality of sampling and assaying processes (QA/QC).
* Execute pit mapping activities during ore spotting or at the commencement of new drilling campaigns.
* Ore Management & Production Coordination:
* Ensure the precise excavation of ore in strict accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
* Actively minimize dilution through rigorous oversight.
* Compile comprehensive weekly ore inspection reviews.
* Engage in daily coordination with the mine production team to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly production targets.
* Prepare and disseminate weekly drilling reviews.
* Data Management & Support:
* Assist the Database Geologist in the daily management of critical data, including drilling, production, and FMS records.
* General Duties:
* Undertake any other tasks or assignments as directed by management.
Candidate Profile & Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following:
* Education & Experience:
* A Bachelor's Degree (S1) in Geological Engineering from an accredited university.
* A minimum of one (1) year of professional experience in mining geology, with particular emphasis on grade control and operational mining areas.
* Technical Skills:
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
* Competence in geological and 3D modeling software (e.g., Surpac or similar platforms).
* A robust understanding of mining safety operational standards, including HSE procedures, JSEA, and Work Permit Systems.
* Strong analytical capabilities for geological data, demonstrating a high degree of meticulousness.
* Comprehensive knowledge of Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) principles for sampling and assaying.
* Personal Attributes & Work Environment:
* The ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
* Demonstrated good leadership potential.
* Willingness to work in a site-based operational area under a rotation/roster system.
* Possession of an active Driver's License (SIM A/SIM B) and a First Operational Supervisor (POP) certification will be considered a significant advantage.
